It is pretty large in total land area and located fairly centrally within the state. A variety of agencies and departments within and outside of the county government maintain records for the area, including the Recorder of Deeds whose office is located in Room #206 of the Saline County Courthouse in the town of Marshall, as well as the Circuit Clerk right next to the Recorder in the Courthouse in Room #205. Both offices have records on file available for research purposes. The Marshall Public Library also operates the Maggie Duggins Genealogy Room, a research room containing a large number of records, computer terminals available for public use, microfilm readers, as well as staff willing to assist with research projects.
