The Society operates a genealogy room in the Scotland County Public Library at 218 S Main in the county seat of Memphis, MO. The room is open by appointment only, and Society volunteers will perform research requests for those who are unable to visit in person. Requests require a minimum $5 donation for the first hour of research, with an additional $5 for every extra hour. Requests can be mailed to Scotland County Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 232, Memphis, MO, 63555. Also in Memphis, in the county Courthouse at 117 S. Market St, are the Circuit Clerk and Recorder of Deeds, who respectively handle criminal and civil records, and marriage and property records, among others.
