Shannon County, MO Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records

Shannon County vital recordsMany of the records from the mid to late 1800s and early 1900s for Shannon County are sketchy, at best, and completely gone, at worst, due to the county courthouse getting burnt down a grand total of four times from 1863 to 1938. Many county courthouses suffered a similar fate during this era, for some reason, but the Shannon County building is in a class of its own in this case. Despite that, the county has done a relatively good job at maintaining as many records as it's been able to, and they are available from a number of sources. The County Recorder has property records from 1859, marriage records from 1881, and others with varying dates. The Probate Court Clerk has probate records from 1869, and the Circuit Clerk has civil and criminal court records from 1872. The Clerk of the Court has some birth and death records, however their dates of availability are not known.
