Skagit County vital recordsSkagit County Public Health in Mount Vernon maintains birth/death records, while the Skagit County Auditor maintains marriage records with an online search, and the Skagit County court clerk maintains divorce records. Statewide recording was mandated in 1907 for birth/death records and 1968 for marriage/divorce records; these can be ordered from the state Center for Health Statistics in Olympia, by mail, phone, or in person for $20, and online through VitalChek. The Washington State Archives maintains historical vital records; other historical information is available at the Skagit Valley Genealogical Society in Conway. Skagit County was created in 1883 out of Whatcom County.
