The application must be filled out and mailed in to St. John the Baptist Parish Clerk of Court, 40th Judicial District, P.O. Box 280, 2393 Hwy 18, Edgard, Louisiana 70049. The appropriate fee for each request must also be sent with the application. Birth cards cost $14 each, and birth certificates are $24. St. John the Baptist Parish, named for the Biblical prophet of the same name and founded in 1807 as one of the original Louisiana parishes, is part of the New Orleans Metropolitan Statistical Area. Due to its location on the Mississippi River and large amount of water lands, sugar cane is a huge cash crop in the area. The close proximity to the large industrial center of New Orleans helps in this regard, as well.
