St. Louis City, MO Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records

St. Louis City vital recordsThe city of St. Louis exists as an independent city, outside the jurisdiction of any county since 1876 when it seceded from St. Louis County. The city is serviced by the Recorder of Deeds and vital Records Registrar for its record keeping. The Recorder's office is located in Room 126 of City Hall at 1200 Market Street. They provide an online archives that lists out a great number of the records the office has on file, including marriage records dated from 1766 to 1931, property records dated from 1877 to the present, and many others. While some of the records on file have limited access, the majority are open to the public, and the Recorder's office has research space and staff on hand to assist in locating anything specific. The St. Louis Genealogical Society also has a large number of records and resources available for research.
