In the interest of preserving the integrity of aging documents and fragile records, the genealogy research department, which is under the jurisdiction of the Stearns County Auditor-Treasurer, no longer allows private individuals to perform research themselves. Instead, vital records researchers are requested to fill out the Genealogists/Researchers Request Form, detailing the primary goal of their research along with providing any pertinent information, and then delivering the completed form to staff at the License Center, who will then perform the research on the requester's behalf. The completed form can be emailed, faxed (320-656-3932), or mailed/delivered in person to Stearns County License Center, Administration Center, Room 130,705 Courthouse Square, St. Cloud MN, 56303. Actual copies of certified records can be obtained at the same address, as well as through the Virtual License Center, which allows the application and purchasing of records online with a credit card.
