Suffolk County, NY Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records
With about 1,500,000 residents, Suffolk County is the 4th most highly populated county in New York State, behind only 3 of the boroughs that form nearby New York City. Suffolk is the most easterly county in the state, as well, occupying the vast majority of Long Island. It was founded in 1683 as one of the original 12 counties in the state. The Office of the Suffolk County Clerk is located in the county seat of Riverhead at 310 Center Drive. The office is responsible for maintaining a variety of records and documents for the area, including Supreme and County Court criminal and civil records, property and deeds records, naturalizations, and many others. The office provides a Land Records Database that contains numerous records that are mostly dated fairly recently (with the exception of the lien index which is dated from 1820 to the present).
