The Museum can be contacted with any inquiries or questions. To apply for copies of death or birth records, contact the vital records department which is run by the State Department of Health. The department, located in Jackson, MS, handles the vital records for all of Mississippi. Also in Jackson is the State Department of Archives and History which operates a research library that has working room for up to 160 people at once. Records at the archives date as far back as the early 1800s, and the only requirement to access them is to obtain a free library card.
