Valley County vital recordsValley County is located almost directly in the center of Nebraska and has a population of about 4,600 residents. Nearly half of them reside in the county seat of Ord, named after Civil War general Edward O. C. Ord. The town is home to the Register of Deeds and County Clerk at 125 S. 15th St which is where the marriage and property records for the county can be viewed and researched. The position of the Clerk of the District Court is also in the same location and handles the criminal and civil court cases for the district. Almost all records at the offices, with the exception of military discharge records, are part of the public record as are birth and death records older than 50 years. Those are maintained by the State Dept of Health and Human Services which operates the Office of Vital Records at 1033 "O" Street in Suite 130 in Lincoln, NE.
