Webster Parish, which was formed in 1871 from land culled from three other parishes, is home to the Germantown Colony and Museum, a historical preservation project that consists of three historical sites originally founded by German settlers in the mid 1800s. The settlers chose this area after leaving other places due to their specific religious beliefs.
