Westchester County, NY Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records
One of the original 12 counties in New York State that were founded in 1683, Westchester County exists primarily as a suburb of New York City and Long Island, and was, in fact, the first major suburban area to develop in the world. Westchester is the 2nd richest county in the state, behind only Manhattan, and is the 7th richest in the entire country. The county seat of White Plains was one of the earliest settlements in the area and is the current home of the Westchester County Clerk's office. The office functions as the official repository for several types of records, and it provides a free online records search that contains property and legal records, many of which date as far back as 1690 and continue to the present. The Westchester County Archives also provides a large number of records online. Westchester County Recorder Office - Birth, Death, Marriage & Divorce Records
