Several part of the county were then split off to join with other counties, and the final area was renamed Andy Johnson County. Some years later, the county changed its name once again, this time to Wilkin County, which stuck throughout the years to present day. The Treasurer Department for the county is the office responsible for the land and vital records of the area. Located on the 1st floor of the Wilkin County Courthouse in Breckenridge, MN, the office distributes certified copies of records to qualified applicants, and allows researchers access to those records on file that are public, which is most of them.
