Yalobusha County, MS Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records

Yalobusha County vital recordsYalobusha County, with a population of less than 13,000, is one of the least populated counties in Mississippi. Despite that, like many counties in the state, it has two county seats, Water Valley and Coffeeville. Offices for the Chancery Clerk, the department in charge of property records, and Circuit Clerk, in charge of marriage records, are located in both towns. While those two record types are the main ones documented at the county level, State Department of Health records births and deaths through its Public Health Statistics department. Copies of birth or death records can be applied for at the PHS office in Jackson, MS, over the phone at (601) 576-7981, through the mail, or online via the VitalChek system the state is partnered up with. The State Department of Archives and History, which runs a research library also in Jackson, has thousands of genealogical and historical documents indexed and available for research purposes.
