Archives Adds Thousands Of Surname Histories

What's behind your name? Now it's easy to find out by running a "Surname Histories" search on Archives.com. Today, Archives integrated The Dictionary of American Family Names - an invaluable resource with information on more than 70,000 of the most common U.S. surnames. The dictionary provides historical explanations, origins, frequencies, associated names, and covers 90 percent of the U.S. population.

To run a search for a surname, log in to Archives.com. Go to the "Search" tab and select "Surname Histories" from the drop-down menu. Enter your surname, or a surname you're curious to learn more about, and Archives will return matching results.
