Archives made several significant updates in the past two weeks, one of the most notable has been the addition of the free internet search feature. This tool scours many of the most popular online genealogy resources including: FamilySearch, USGenWeb, Find A Grave, CousinConnect, Interment, and ImmigrantShips, to help Archives.com users find their ancestors. Now all it takes is one search to find records from multiple websites.

Here's an example of the free search results you'll find:

This tool was designed to make it easier for people to find the free resources available online--this is part of our mission to make family history simple and affordable. Free internet search is powered by Google, and results look similar those in a Google search. What's unique is that we only show you the most relevant results, making it easy for you to find the ancestor you're looking for right away.

To use free internet search: go the Archives.com homepage and run a search (if you're an Archives member you must be "logged out"). Currently, we're erring on the side of displaying only the most accurate matches, and will be fine tuning the tool to return even more results soon.

As with any new feature, we'll be smoothing it out and improving upon it in the coming weeks. We'd love to hear your feedback about free internet search. Please write your comments below, or email us at feedback AT archives.com.
