Grubb Family History

Grubb Genealogy & History

Grubb, descended from the Old High German verb grubilon (to dig) and akin to Middle Dutch grobben (to scrape), is an occupational name for a mine worker. The Grubbs were lords of the manor in Berkshire in ancient times. Grubb family history has Richard Gubbe as the first known recording of the name in the Pipe Rolls of Berkshire, England, in 1176. Some members of Grubb genealogy are optical designer and telescope maker Sir Howard Grubb; National League of Families cofounder, author and overseer of the creation of the POW/MIA flag Evelyn Grubb; and NASCAR mechanic and crew chief Darian Grub.
