Utah Genealogy & LDS Family History Centers

Residents of Utah who wish to trace their family ancestry have plenty of good resources at their disposal. In addition to the Family History Library, the largest of its kind in the world, the state boasts numerous Utah family history centers that serve as offshoot branches for the main library. All of these facilities are owned and operated by the Utah LDS church, with teams of church members that serve as volunteers to help guests navigate the sometimes complex trail of genealogy. These family history centers possess their own collection of microfiche, print documents and technology, as well as providing access to material through the main library.

Utah Genealogy Resources

Utah, also known as the Beehive State, is a mecca for genealogical research. Don't assume that if your ancestors were not Mormon there is nothing for you here. Genealogical collections for Utah, the United States and the World can be found at the Family History Library, Brigham Young University Library and the University of Utah. For those with Mormon ancestors, a trip to Salt Lake City should include the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum and the Church History Library.
