New Hampshire birth records are available by written request, for a fee, and with proper identification, starting in 1640 from the Division of Vital Records Administration or from the city or town clerk in the place where the birth occurred or was registered. The same is true for New Hampshire death records. Applicants for New Hampshire vital records for birth and death must include the signature of the requestor or notarized assignment of access from the registrant authorizing non-direct or tangibly related individual access and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Fees may be paid by personal or money order payable to the State Treasurer. Birth records since 1983 and death records since 1990 can be obtained from any city or town running the Vital Records Automated software called NHVRIN. Registration to this site (http://nhvrinweb.sos.nh.gov/) is required.
