Branch County has a number of comprehensive options for researching genealogy and vital records for the area. They offer office space on Monday through Thursday, from 9:00AM till 11:00AM and then 1:00PM till 3:00PM. Only two researchers are permitted at once due to space limitations. Birth and death records are both available from 1867 to the present, and the entire death index is listed for free on their website. Marriage records are also available from 1833 to the present. Charges for printing records are $15 for the first one, and $5 for extra copies. The Clerk is located on the first floor of the courthouse on 31 Division Street in Coldwater, MI. Additionally, the County Clerk recommends visiting the Heritage Room in the public library next door from the Courthouse, where researchers can access a number of records on microfilm, including census records, death and marriage indexes, and more.
