Bronx County, NY Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records

Bronx County vital recordsFounded in 1914, Bronx County, or simply The Bronx, is the youngest county in New York State. It is one of five boroughs of New York City and is the 5th most populated county in the state. The state Municiple Archives, operated by the New York City Department of Records and Information Services, has birth certificates on file dated prior to 1910, death certificates dated prior to 1949, and marriage certificates dated prior to 1930, and all are open to the public. Those records dated more recently are maintained by the New York State Department of Health in Albany, the state capitol. Only those with a demonstrable interest may obtain certified copies of vital records from the Department of Health, and all specific requirements are detailed on the DoH's main website. The Department also provides a Genealogy Records and Resources FAQ page that provides information and additional research directions.
