Butler County vital recordsIn Butler County, the offices of the Register of Deeds and County Clerk are combined into one department responsible for maintaining most records for the county, including marriage, property, tax, and others. Located at 451 N 5th St in David City, the county seat, the office is open to the public and allows individuals to visit in person and research the records on file there. Also available for research purposes is the Butler County Genealogy Society. The Society has a number of records on file, as well, including marriage records from 1870, probate records from 1872, and deed books from 1876. Also available are census records for most decades in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Society volunteers will also perform genealogy research for $5 per item if specific dates are available, or $5 for more general requests.
