Carroll County vital recordsThe Carroll County Registry of Deeds is the custodian for all property records for the county. Records on file there date as far back as 1840, the year of the county's formation, to the present, and a large number are viewable on public computer terminals the office provides. The county Clerk of Superior Court handles court records, which includes divorce records, among many others. The Division of Vital Records Administration, located in the state capitol of Concord, also has divorce records, and marriage, birth, and death records, all dating from 1640 to the present. Birth records dating from 1901 to the present, and death, marriage, and divorce records from 1948 to the present are all closed to the public and may only be viewed by the original recipient, or someone who has a direct and tangible interest, i.e. a member of the recipient's immediate family.
