Carver County, named after Jonathan Carver, the explorer who initially mapped the county region, has experienced a continued growth all throughout the 2000s, gaining over 20,000 residents from 2000 to 2010 alone. Some of the additional population can be explained by the fact that Carver County is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metro area, which has been growing steadily for some time.
