Many 17th-century church records for births and deaths are unrestrictedly available at the Department of Archives and History in Columbia, with a 1915-1960 death index on the state Department of Health website. Historical marriage records pre-1950 may be ordered from the county Probate Judge, and divorce records post-1949 from the County Clerk.
