Cheyenne County, NE Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records

Cheyenne County vital recordsCheyenne County has the relatively small population of approximately 10,000 people and is located in the fairly remote area almost in the southwest corner of Nebraska. As a result, all county government departments that would normally take care of their own types of records are combined into the single office of the County Clerk. The Clerk maintains property records, marriage indexes, and all other records that are handled at the county level. Vital records, such as births and deaths, are kept at the state level by the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Vital Records and are available from the early 1900s to those who qualify. The Cheyenne County Genealogical Society operates its Seda Heritage Room in the Sidney Public Library in the county seat of Sidney, NE. The Society, which has records on file dating from the late 1800s and early 1900s, will perform research requests received by email or regular mail.
