Minimal marriage records are available beginning 1883, burial records from 1940, and cemetery records dating back to the late 1800s. Clark County was created from Hanson County in 1873but the first settlement in Clark County by people of European decent was not until 1879. The county was organized in 1881, and Clark House, owned and kept by Mrs. M. E. Greenslet, was designated as the official headquarters.
