While the County Clerk and Register of Deeds both maintain certain records for the county, the Nebraska State Historical Society has a huge number both online and within the library it operates in Lincoln, NE. Online records include cemetery records, prison records from 1870 to 1990, homestead books from 1860 to 1954, and many more, and they also provide a detailed list of genealogy finding aids to assist people in their research. The Society will perform research requests submitted by mail, and all applicable fees and restrictions are provided online. Also provided via their website is a nearly complete library catalog which lists most of the over 50,000 documents and records the library has on hand.
