DeKalb County vital recordsThe Tennessee Vital Records Office (http://health.state.tn.us/vr/Genealogy.htm) in Nashville keeps vital records and statistics from DeKalb and other Tennessee counties. Birth records are stored for 100 years and death, marriage, and divorce records for 50 years. Copies of birth certificates are $15.00 for the first copy and $5.00 for each additional copy. There is a $7.00 charge for death certificate copies. The Tennessee State Library Archives (http://www.tn.gov/tsla/history/county/factdekalb.htm) also maintains vital records that are made available to the public by request. For Internet access to vital documents, contact VitalChek (http://www.vitalchek.com/tennessee-express-vital-records.aspx), which charges a processing fee in addition to the Vital Records Office fees.
