Franklin County vital recordsThose wishing to obtain certified copies of birth and death certificates for Franklin County will not be able to do so at the county level. Those vital records are handled at the state level by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services which operates a vital records department in Lincoln, NE. The department provides both death and birth certificate applications online, however only the birth application can be filled out and submitted online. The death certificate application can be filled out on a computer, but then must be printed and physically mailed along with the appropriate fees. Birth and death records from the department are dated from 1904, however only records older than 50 years are open to the public. Records dated more recently than that are restricted to the original recipient, or members of the recipient's immediate family.
