Greensville County vital recordsThe Greensville County Clerk of the Circuit Court is the general recordkeeper for the county, recording all documents relating to births, deaths, wills, and divorces, and issuing marriage licenses. Vital records are available to qualified individuals for $12.00 at the Virginia Department of Health. Death, marriage, and divorce records become public after 50 years, birth records after 100. The Library of Virginia houses birth and death records (18531896) and marriage records (18531935). Greensville County was established in 1781 from Brunswick County. It was probably named for Sir Richard Grenville, leader of the Roanoke Island settlement of 1585.
