Grenada County vital recordsThe Grenada County Historical Society operates out of the Elizabeth Jones Public Library, in the city of Grenada, MS. The Society, which meets on the last Thursday of each month and accepts new members, maintains a historical and genealogical collection within the library that is open for public research. They also have members willing to help with research projects and provide directions. The Grenada County Chancery Clerk, located at 59 Green Street, also in the town of Grenada, is responsible for providing access to and certified copies of certain county records, especially property records. Those wishing to research or obtain copies of death, marriage, or birth records will need to contact the Mississippi State Department of Health which operates its own Vital Records department. The birth and death records the department has indexed date back to 1912, and the marriage records begin in 1926.
