Hardin County vital recordsHardin County, Tennessee, formed from Indian lands in 1818, sends copies of all records from the county seat in Savannah to the state Vital Records Office (http://health.state.tn.us/vr/Genealogy.htm) in Nashville. That office maintains death, marriage, and divorce records for 50 years and birth records for 100 years. Copies of birth certificates are $15.00 for the first copy and $5.00 for each additional copy. There is a $7.00 charge for death certificate copies. VitalChek (http://www.vitalchek.com/tennessee-express-vital-records.aspx) makes records available on the Internet for an additional service fee. The county court house experienced fires in 1859, 1864, and 1949; some vital records may not be available.
