Orders are accepted by mail or in person for $15, with online ordering through VitalChek; records for living persons are restricted to family. Statewide recordkeeping was initiated in 1907, mandated in 1917, but compliance was spotty until the 1940s. Marriage and divorce records are available from the Clerk of Court in Buffalo.
