Jackson County, MI Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records

Jackson County vital recordsJackson County, so called one of Michigan's "cabinet counties" due to being named after a member of Andrew Jackson's staff during his Presidency, allows access to the vital and genealogy records through the County Clerk's office, which is staffed by volunteer research assistants on Tuesdays from 9:00AM till 12:00PM and Thursdays from 10:00AM till 2:00PM. Only two researchers are permitted at once because of space limitations within the office. Marriage records from the 1800s to the present are available for free online through the Records Search system the county offers. Death and divorce records from 1867 to the present are also available either by visiting the office directly, or through the mail. Applications are provided via the county website. Jackson County indexes birth records from 1867 to the present, as well, however they are only open to the public when 110 years and older.
