The Jasper County Genealogical & Historical Society, which operates out of the town of Heidelberg in the public library, is a fledging organization that is rapidly accumulating a sizeable collection of historical and genealogical records and research materials. The Jasper County branch of the MsGenWeb Project is also a good source of records and resources. For official copies of property records, the Chancery Clerk's offices are located in Paulding, and Bay Springs, both towns being county seats, and for certified birth, death, and marriage records, the Vital Records Department with the State Department of Health is located in Jackson, the state capitol. Both offices accept applications and research requests in person.
