Kay County vital recordsKay County vital records can be ordered locally, by mail or in person, for $15 at the County Health Department in Ponca City. Birth records for living persons are restricted to family members. Birth and death records are also available from the state Health Department in Oklahoma City, or online through VitalChek. Although there was mandatory statewide reporting required in 1917, compliance was not complete until the 1940s. The Oklahoma Historical Society houses older records, with marriage and divorce records available from the County Courthouse Clerk in Newkirk. Formed from the Cherokee Outlet, Kay was originally designated a County K, and opened to non-Indian settlement in 1893.
