Kent County vital recordsKent County records are maintained by the Kent County Clerk (http://www.co.kent.tx.us/ips/cms/countyoffices/countyClerk.html). State recordkeeping began in 1903. The county keeps original copies of vital statistics and provides copies to the state. Records kept include birth and death certificates and marriage licenses. Birth and death records are private for 75 and 25 years respectively; certified copies of non-public records are provided only to qualified applicants, but anyone can obtain a verification letter. Birth certificates are $23.00; death certificates are $21.00 for the first page and $3.00 for each additional page. A certified copy of a marriage certificate is $6.00.
