Lincoln County, MS Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records

Lincoln County vital recordsLincoln County, founded in 1870 during the Reconstruction period in the south in the years following the Civil War, was named for previous President Abraham Lincoln. Many areas in the south were named for northern figureheads during this period in an attempt to reintegrate southern areas back into the country as a whole. The county seat of Lincoln is the town of Brookhaven, which is where the Chancery Clerk is located, who is the custodian of the property records for the area, among other duties. His office is at 215A Justice Street, and it is open throughout the week during normal business hours for walk-ins who wish to apply for copies of records. In addition, for research purposes, the Lincoln-Lawrence-Franklin Regional Library offers a number of resources, including free access to normally paid online databases while using the library computers, and actual records at the library itself.
