Louisa County vital recordsThe Louisa County Circuit Court Clerk is responsible for records of birth, death, and marriage. The Louisa County Historical Society at the Sargeant Museum houses the Society's archives of documents and photographs since 1966. Research in the archives requires an assistant, so appointments are necessary and a suggested donation of $20 per hour is requested. The Public Library's Genealogy Research Room has all books published for Louisa County research, including; court records, marriages, the free blacks register, and the Freedmen's Bureau marriage registrations. Qualified individuals may obtain Virginia vital records for $12.00 at the Virginia Department of Health
