Luna County, NM Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records

Luna County vital recordsLuna County was the scene of violent conflict as recently as 1916 when Pancho Villa, the notorious Mexican revolutionary leader, led a large number of his soldiers into the town of Columbus. They looted and burned the town until driven off by a force of U.S. soldiers not long after. Luna County only has two official towns: Columbus, and the county seat of Deming. The latter is the location of the County Clerk, as well as all other county government agencies, housed within the courthouse at 700 S Silver Ave. The Clerk's office is responsible for maintaining a large variety of record types for the county, including property, tax, and marriage records, among others. The District Court maintains divorce records, and the state level Department of Health maintains the birth and death records for all of New Mexico. The latter two are dated from 1919 to the present.
