In the early 1740s, Montana was explored by the French explorers Fran�ois and Louis-Joseph Verendrye. Montana marriage records and Montana divorce records are available from late July 1943 on, for a fee and with proper photo identification, from the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, Office of Vital Statistics. Inquiries will be forwarded to the appropriate office. Certified copies are not available from State Office. If known, apply to the country where the marriage license was issued. You can order marriage records online or by phone with a credit card or by mail with a personal check or money order made payable to Montana Vital Records.
