McHenry County vital recordsVital records for McHenry County are kept by the McHenry County Clerk's Office. The office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The County's earliest records begin in 1837 for marriage records and in 1877 for birth and in 1878 for death records. It was not state law to keep birth and death records until 1916. You may request a vital records search either by mail or in person. Vital records such as birth, death or marriage records can also be requested from the Illinois Department of Public Health. Divorce records must be requested from the McHenry County Circuit Clerk.
