Motley County, TX Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records
In Motley County, all vital records are kept by the County Clerk: birth, death, marriage and divorce. Records go back as far as 1891. They are preserved in hard copies, on paper; nothing is on line, and nothing is on computers. Motley County was formed from Young and Bexar Territories; it was created August 21, 1876, and organized February 5, 1891. The county was named in honor of Dr. Junius William Mottley, 1811-1836; he was a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence and an aide to General Rusk at the Battle of San Jacinto. There he was mortally wounded.
