Murray County vital recordsMurray County vital records can be ordered locally, in person or by mail for $15, from the Health Department in Sulphur or from the state Health Department in Oklahoma City. Statewide registration of birth/death records was initiated upon statehood in 1907 and mandated in 1917, but compliance was spotty until the 1940s. Birth records for living individuals are restricted to immediate family. Historical records are available from the Oklahoma Historical Society. Marriage and divorce records can be ordered locally from the County Clerk of Court in Sulphur. Founded in 1907, Murray County was part of the Choctaw Nation in 1830 and the Chickasaw Nation in 1855.
