Quay County, NM Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records

Quay County vital recordsIn the early 1900s, a U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania named Matthew Quay fought for New Mexico's admission as a state. It was during his term in the Senate that Quay County was founded and named in his honor. The county has a fairly small population with about 9,000 residents, and over half of them reside in the county seat of Tucumcari, NM. The District Court is there, as well, and keeps track of all court records, including divorces. Also, the County Clerk maintains marriage and property records, in addition to a large number of others. The New Mexico Genealogical Society also has a huge amount of records and documents, and provides a great many of them online via the University of New Mexico's Lobo Vault. Documents in the Vault are dated from 1678 to 1869 and include marriage and overall genealogical records.
