Renville County vital recordsThe Renville County Recorder, which is open to the public for vital records research purposes and can be contacted to schedule an appointment to view records the department has available, is located on the second floor of the County Courthouse on 500 E. DePue Ave., in Suite 203, in the county seat of Olivia, MN. The office provides instructions on how to apply for birth records, death records, and marriage records, all of which are dated from approximately 1870, as well as fee schedules and information on where to mail or fax the applications upon completion if the requester is not taking them to the office in person.

Due to its triangular shape, Renville County borders nine other counties in Minnesota. It is fairly low population, with less than 16,000 residents as of the 2010 census.
