Rice County, MN Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records

Rice County vital recordsContrary to what one might expect, Rice County is named for Henry Mower Rice, one of Minnesota's first two U.S. Senators, rather than the well known abundance of wild rice that is grown in the area. Property records, and vital statistics are in the care of the Rice County Recorder, which provides copies of certified and uncertified birth and death records, both indexed from 1870 to the present, as well as property records, first listed in 1853, and marriage records, available from 1856. For online viewing of property records dating back to 1965, Rice County uses the subscription based LandShark system, along with referring the Minnesota Official Marriage System for viewing marriage records online. The Rice County Historical Society maintains their research library which has a comprehensive and in-depth amount of research material that is available for nonmembers of the Society for $10 per hour.
