Rusk County was organized out of Chippewa County in 1901, named Gates County, and renamed in 1905. Its historical records date to 1900 for births and 1901 for marriages/deaths, with a statewide index available. Records after 1907 can also be ordered from the Wisconsin Department of Health Office of Vital Records in Madison, by mail, fax, or in person, for $20/copy or online through VitalChek.
