Sarpy County vital recordsDespite being one of the smallest counties in the state as far as overall land area, Sarpy County has the third highest population in Nebraska with almost 160,000. It was among the earliest settled areas in the region and was formally established in 1857. The Sarpy County Register of Deeds has all of the property records for the county, all of which are part of the public record. The office, located in the county courthouse, has public computer terminals and microfilm readers available for those who can visit in person as well as a member of the staff who can assist researchers. Records on file there that are dated from July 1st, 1997 can be viewed on the computers, while records dated prior are on microfilm cards. The County Clerk, also located in the courthouse, maintains marriage records and provides an online database that lists available records dated from 1987 to the present.
